Defibrillator Campaign

100,000 people a year die from Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). It is the UK’s biggest killer, killing both adults and children. By making defibrillators accessible to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, this figure can be reduced. Defibrillation within the first 3 minutes of an SCA can increase a patient’s chance of survival by upwards of 80%. In August 2016, we began a campaign with AED Donate to raise money for a defibrillator to be installed in Hanley, Piccadilly; the amount needed was £2,000.

Back in October 2016, a charity golf day at Trentham Park Golf Club was held to raise money for the campaign; a total of 6 teams with 4 members on each team took part in the golf day with a charity raffle in the evening. Following a successful day of events a total of £946 was raised, we would like to thank everyone that took part on the day and thank you to Trentham Park Golf Club.

Following on from the successful golf day, Aviva ran a campaign called the Aviva Community Fund; this allows projects to campaign for funding, following a successful submission of their chosen project and, with the help of the community, receive votes supporting their campaign. Our project requested £1,000 in funding to enable us to successfully achieve our goal of raising £2,000 for a defibrillator to be placed in Hanley, Piccadilly. After numerous, social media posts, pestering clients and the aid of the Piccadilly community we have been successful in our campaign, and have achieved our goal set out back in August 2016.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has taken part and helped us achieve our goal, from those who took part in the charity golf day, to donating via the AED Donate website, collecting money in charity tubs, countlessly sharing posts and tweets on social media and voting for us on the Aviva Community Fund, without your help we would never of been able to achieve this, thank you.

Although our campaign has ended, there are many other great projects that still require support, please visit the AED Donate website to discover what is happening in your area.
